Description Disc 1 (2011)

19-25 cm. A long thin black bill: upperparts and chest metallic golden green: front, supraocular area and cheeks dark blue: throat white to buff, the upper throat black: the rest of the underparts rufous chestnut to buff: the four central tail rectrices metallic green, the outer rectrices cinnamon.<nThe immature has a shorter bil and tail.

Call piu...piu...piu... , song accelerating and increasing in pitch piu..piu..piu..tititititititit .

Behavior Disc 1 (2011)

Perches singly or in pairs 1 - 3 meters above the ground and makes aerial sallies for a variety of insects including Lepidoptera, Odonata, Hymenoptera, Hemiptera, Isoptera, Orthoptera and Coleoptera.

Breeding Disc 1 (2011)

September - December. Excavates a nest in a bank.

Habitat and status Disc 1 (2011)

Common, but local in the borders of primary and secondary forest, forest remnants, gallery forest, openings in forest, bamboo patches, plantations, dry cerrado and caatinga. Sea level to 900 meters.

Throughout. In Estado S<C4>o Paulo reported from <8E>Montana, Vassununga, S<C4>o Simao, Fazenda Pedras, Campininha, Conde do Pinhal, Broa, Itirapina, Fazenda Paraiso, Novo Horizonte, Ubatumirim, Itirapua, Batatais, Vista Bonita, Mirassolandia, Ananghai, Aracangua ^119 .
