Description Disc 1 (2011)

25-28 cm. The male"s crown and breast are purplish blue: throat black: belly orange yellow: back bronzy green: rump purplish blue: the central tail rectrices are greenish blue, broadly tipped black, and the outer rectrices are black tipped white: bill pale greenish: eyering pale blue. <nThe female"s upperparts, breast and flanks are dark gray: belly orange yellow: wing coverts black, vermiculated white, outer rectrices tipped and barred with white.

A series of lound whistles wu or wiu , about 3 per second.

Behavior Disc 1 (2011)

Forages in the canopy and sub-canopy for fruit and arthropods. Joins mixed bird parties.

Breeding Disc 1 (2011)

September - March. Breeds in the hollow of a tree or termitarium.

Habitat and status Disc 1 (2011)

Common in humid primary and tall secondary forest of the lowlands and serras.

Distribution Disc 1 (2011)

The litoral, the Serra Mantiqueira and Serra dos Org<C4>os. In Estado S<C4>o Paulo recorded from <8E>Guarau, Sete Barras, Cananeia, Guaratuba, Ubatumirim, Ubatuba, Sertao das Cotias, PE Jacupiranga, Fazenda Intervales ^119 .
