White-bellied Warbler

12.5 cm. Head grey. An orange coronal streak bordered laterally by a broad black stripe. Superciliary white. Black stripe through eye. Upperparts olive green. Throat grayish white. Chest and belly yellowish. Call a sharp "tsit". Song a series of 6-9 notes similar to or not distinguishable from the song of /Basileuterus culicivorus . Forages at low and middle level of trees and in underbrush, singly or in pairs, sometimes in mixed flocks. Not uncommon in primary forest, forest edge, gallery forest, scrubby secondary forest, near streams in dry forests. Found mostly away from the coast. Observed at<8E>Itatiba, Itapetininga ^119 . Below 1000 meters /Basileuterus hypoleucus interbreeds with /Basileuterus culicivorus where they meet. Where they occur together /Basileuterus hypoleucus is found in dry forest and /Basileuterus culicivorus in humid forest. /Basileuterus hypoleucus might be just a morph of /Basileuterus culicivorus ^119 . 7087 Call.
