Whitish buff throat becoming olive-brown below with buff streaks invading the olive-brown chest. Rufous tail. <NThis species is not as chunky as /syndactyla rufosuperciliata and has a longer longer tail. Song a high and loud "tik tik tik titititititi". Low in dense humid forest. At Itatiaia National Park I observed this species during a foraging activity lasting for about 4 min examining nothing else but branches with dead leaves in the understory of secondary rain forest see ^44 .
