Description Disc 1 (2011)

23.5 cm. Upperparts black, glossed green the feathers edged buff: the white on the forehead is very narrow: throat and upper breast white: face and narrow collar grayish white: breast band black: belly buff: flanks narrowly banded gray: bill black: iris red, brown or straw-colored.<nThe immature is duller and the pectoral band may be incomplete.

Calls similar to the calls of /Notharchus ordii and not to the calls of /Notharchus macrorhynchus , a series of ui.ui.ui. , a descending high trill reminiscent of a small owl, a series of dide.dide.dide... or di.dede..di.dede..di.dede.. .

In Estado S<C4>o Paulo reported from <8E>Pariquera-Acu, Sete Barras, Boa Vista, Ubatumirim, Barretos, Mirandopolis, Pompeia, General Salgado, Ouroeste, Araba, Nova Canaa, Aracangua, Fazenda Intervales ^119 .
