Description Disc 1 (2011)

8-9 cm. A small hermit with rump and underparts rufous: a narrow black band across the lower breast: the tail evenly graduated, coppery, the feathers tipped cinnamon, the central pair sometimes with white tips.<nThe female is paler below and lacks the black chest band.

Song a repeated zi..zi...zi...ziziri.. flight call seiss..

Behavior Disc 1 (2011)

Feeds on nectar and small arthropods by trap-lining.

Common, especially to the North of the area. Scrub, second growth, forest edge, cerrado.

Distribution Disc 1 (2011)

Predominantly litoral. In Estado S<C4>o Paulo reported from <8E>Anchieta, Ubatumirim, Sertao das Cotias. In Estado Rio de Janeiro reported from <8E>Cachoeira de Macacu, Rio de Janeiro.
