Description Disc 1 (2011)

46 cm. The male is much larger than the female. The adult is glossy blue black with bronzy green feather edges: iris white: bill long, black, laterally compressed with an high arched ridge at the base of the upper mandible: feet black.<nThe immature has a brown iris.

Voice Disc 1 (2011)

Lound guttural bubbling series of calls of several individuals in unison krokrokrokro... and growling croaks and hisses.

Forages on the ground, low in scrub or in the canopy.

Habitat and status Disc 1 (2011)

Rare, only occurs in spring. Confined to galery forests mata ciliar , swamps in forests.
