Buff-throated Woodcreeper

26 cm. A large woodcreeper with a long, dark horn colored bill. Brown above. Throat beige. Lighter brown below with large guttate beige streaks. Belly brown and unstriped. Wings and long tail reddish-brown. A sequence of whistles that become louder and again softer raising in pitch and duration, even becoming two-syllabic and lasting for minutes. In Amazonia scales trees in humid primary and secondary forest and forest edge, quite vocal, forages at middle and high levels.
