10 cm. Male gray above. Wings dull blackish-brown with a white speculum. Rump, underparts and cheeks a tawny-rust color. <NThe female is brown above, more buffy below. Song three long drawn-out notes and a long trill at the end-"ziu ziu ziiii zrrrrrrr" - or variations thereof Vocalization 1 . Forages in tall grass and scrub, also on the ground in small groups Seasonally common in tall grass savannah and marshes. A migrant showing up with /Sporophila melanogaster in October<10>November.
