10 cm. Male pale gray. Throat and median of belly black. Crissum black. Wings and tail dusky, the wings with a white speculum. <NThe female is olive above, light buffy below. Wings with white speculum. Call "zu-e", "zi-e", a long "ziiii", zi. Song complex, starting out with "zu-e" calls, interspersed with trills vocalization 3 . Forages in tall grass.
