18 cm. Head pale gray with a white throat contrasting with a dark mask. Back olive-green. The rest of the underparts are bright yellow with only a faint wash of olive across chest. Wings and tail dusky, the wing feathers edged pale. The tail is more forked than that of /Tyrannus melancholicus . Calls a high series of "tic tic tic...." often combined to a trill "tic-titititititititititic....". Thinner than the vocalizations of /Tyrannus melancholicus . I do not know the dawn song. Perching on bushes, trees, fences and telephone wires. Performs aerial hawking and forages also on or near the ground. Frugivorous. The genus Tyrannus builds open cup nests ^77 Rare in bushy open savannah, cerrado, agricultural areas and gallery woodland frequently near water.
