18 cm. Most easily identified by its vocalization and often only separable in the field from /Myiarchus ferox by its different vocalizations. Bill black with a pink base to the mandible. Olive-gray above with black wings whose flight feathers and wing coverts have grayish-white edges . Below grayish white, the belly with yellow hue. Tail black. The common call is a plaintive frequently repeated "whoo". Other calls include a " wiwu wiwu wi-pit wuwuwuwuwu" or a "wi-wi-pit" and variations thereof. Perches mostly at low levels and engages in outward-hover-gleaning and fruit eating. A common Myiarchus of the Atlantic Forest in primary and mature secondary forest and edge and in plantations and areas with scattered trees and cerrado. Throughout.
