Complete decoded account text

11 cm. A stocky tyrannulet with a thick and stubby unicolored black bill. Olive gray-brown above, the head being grayer than the back and with a white superciliary stripe. Wings grayish-brown with two dull yellow-green wing-bars. Throat white. Below yellowish with olive-gray clouding and washed-out streaking. Tail black, relatively short, but longer than in /Phyllomyias burmeisteri . The ascending whistles of the Planalto Tyrannulet are far carrying and are a characteristic sound heard almost everywhere with exception of the coastal lowlands. Commonest call is a diagnostic loud three-syllable whistle "pui pui puiiit" and variations thereof are used in duets which are intermixed with single "prrrit" notes and sometimes with series of "prii-prii-prii-prrrrr-prrrrr" calls. Foraging singly or in pairs high in the canopy. The main foraging modes of this species are frugivory, perch-gleaning and upward hover-gleaning from an enclosed position within the vegetation. The hawking flights are horizontal or upward. Hovering may start long before the capturing flight begins ^73,^74 . Feeds mostly on small berries, e. g. Loranthaceae Mistletoes . Frequently in mixed bird parties. Nests of /Phyllomyias have been described as open cups ^86 . Fairly common in canopy of primary and secondary upland forest.
