13 cm. A small green elaenia of inland forests. Olive-green above with a lighter superciliary and a yellow coronal stripe. Wings and tail a darker greenish-olive, the wings without distinct wing bars. Throat grayish. Breast olive-gray. Belly yellow. <N The female /Myiopagis caniceps has strong whitish-yellow wing bars. Call is a slurred "zu-i" or "cheerip" ^44 , see cut 2. Cut 1 is also characterisitic, a variation of the first call, but lower in pitch, like "zei-do.... zidli zidli.... zeido". Dawn song is a sqeaky whistle repeated consistently "tsibit-TSEE-tsigheh" ^30 maybe similar to cut 1. See also ^38. Usually well into the interior of the forest canopy. Posture usually elaenia-like vertical. An upward-hover gleaner and perch gleaner ^74 . Fairly common, but inconspicuous in the canopy of dry woodlands, forest borders and gallery forest. Pinto reports this species from the northern part of Estado S<C4>o Paulo e. g. from<8E>Bebedouro, Porto Cabral, Lins, Avanhandava . Forrester notes it as accidental in the<8E>Serra Mantiqueira<8E>.
