11.5 cm. A robust greenish-yellow tyrannulet of shrubby borders and swamp land. Bill black and slender. Light olive-green above with a yellow superciliary stripe. Wings dusky-black with two broad yellow wing bars. Below bright yellow. Call is a deep burry trill "turrrrrrrrrr" and also a "wuit wuitwuit", "wutwutwut", "witu witu witu..." and other variations. The duet is a protracted warble consisting of trills and "wuit" notes, reminiscent of /Phyllomyias fasciatus duets. Forages low in bushes and scrub in pairs or small groups. A upward-hover gleaner.
