However its primary lowland forest habitat clearly defines this species /N. chrysolophum is only found in highland forest and scrub . Song is a four-syllable strophe sounding like "wo-di-wo-de" and variations, with the emphasis on the last syllable. The high similarity of these repetitions of the song is reminiscent of the vocalizations of /Tyrranneutes stolzmanni to which this species is supposedly related ^93 . Stays in the middle stratum of dense forest interior. Forages with short range less than 1.5 meters sally-hovers to take fruit ^93 .
