Olive Spinetail

5.1 Pale brownish-olive above. Crown grayish olive-brown. postocular streak buffy. A white chin otherwise dull yellowish-ocher below, darker on the lower flanks. Wing coverts and tail rufous-brown, the tail feathers sharply pointed. <NJuvenile plumage is darker and purer olive-green, the breast with dark vermiculations. A sequence of hard "chep... chep... chep... chip... chip......." sounds, plus a typical rapid 5-6 syllable chatter, "chichichichichit", lasting less than 1 second. Song is a fast sequence of 10-12 "zizizizizizizizizirrrr" sounds that drop in pitch at the end of each sequence, reminiscent of /Cranioleuca pallida , but longer. The "zizizi..." sequences can be still longer and can be delivered as a pair song. Actively climbs about in epiphytes and mossy branches | not very shy and not a skulker. Frequently in pairs. Uncommon in undergrowth and borders of humid woodland. Also at higher elevation in Araucaria dominated woodland. Southern Est. S<C4>o Paulo close to the border with Parana ^44 .
