Other Information Apart from species information, additional information is provided in the form of a list of locations many of which have associated checklists, references and author information. You can also configure a few things. To see what is available, without closing this window click the "Restore" box the double boxes next to the X in the top right hand corner to change this window to its original non-maximized size. Page windows normally display at this size. Behind the window you should now see the application window with the listing of introduction topics displayed. Click the application window so that this window disappears behind it. If the application window is maximized, make it smaller so that you can see both windows and observe you can switch from one to the other by clicking on the appropriate window. Locations Select "Places" from the Index Menu on the Top Menu Bar to display a list of locations referenced. Some locations have checklists associated with them but many do not. If you click the AreaMap button on the Places listing you will see a map showing the position of those locations in the list that have associated checklists. However if you left double-click any of the location entries a page like this will display that includes a map with the location position flagged provided it lies within the map boundaries. Double click on the map once it displays to maximize it. Checklists Many locations have an associated checklist. Select "Checklists" from the Index Menu on the Top Menu Bar. The top entry in the list is always the main checklist Brazil and it should be highlighted in color. The checklist selected determines which species will appear in the Species list. To specify a different checklist double-click its entry or press the F7 key and specify an item in the list. References These are used in the text and are for your information. Use the "Defaults - Species Page - Resolve References" option to turn on and off the display of references in the text. Other functions When you have many windows open you can use the Cascade and Close options from the Page Menu on the Top Menu Bar to either cascade them or close them all.<N The various configurable options are listed in the Defaults Menu on the Top Menu Bar. Each one of these is described in the Help file. You can access the Help Index from the Help Menu on the Top Menu Bar. The Random Player is turned on from the File Menu on the Top Menu Bar. After a time interval you define it will randomly display pictures and play vocalizations for all available species.<N<N
