Description Disc 1 · 2011
43-46 cm. Head, nape and upper breast black; ear patch, chin and throat deep chestnut (ssp. vergens); back, wings and tail slaty green; rump crimson; lower breast and belly light yellow crossed by a broad crimson band; upper mandible white, culmen and maxilla black, the base of the bill outlined in white.
The female's bill is shorter.
