Description Disc 1 (2011)

30 cm. The male"s upperparts are oily green with a white band across the hindneck: underparts white with a broad chestnut band across the lower throat and breast: wing feathers lacking white spots.<nThe female is similar, but the chestnut band is replaced by green spots.

Song a loud jit..jet..jut..jut..jut..jut.. : calls a high pitched tchik...tchik...tchik....tchidi-chichichick..

Hunts fish and crustacea from a perch.

Quite common in most locations along large rivers, lake shores, lagoons, mangroves and tidal estuaries at the coast. Mainly below 1200 meters.
