Description Disc 1 (2011)

6.0-6.6 cm. The male has a medium-sized, straight black bill: above dark bronze green: throat and sides of neck amethyst bordered with dull white: the rest of the underparts gray with green discs: tail rather long, deeply forked, the outer rectrices dark purplish brown, tipped bronze.<nThe female is like the male but throat is whitish with a few glittering amethyst discs: underparts rufous: tail short square, the central feathers green, the rest black with cinnamon tips.

Behavior Disc 1 (2011)

Forages for nectar at a great variety of shrubs, trees and herbs: hawks for insects: forages in bushes and small trees.

Common in most of its range. Lives in a great variety of habitats from open bush savannah to humid forest borders, parks, gardens.

Throughout. In Estado S<C4>o Paulo recorded from <8E>Manduri, Aracacu, Broa, Itirapina, Campinas, Ubatumirim, Itapirapua, Fazenda Intervales, Pindamonhangaba ^119 .
