Description Disc 1 (2011)

10-12 cm. The male has a straight medium sized bill with a black mandible, maxilla pink with a black tip: upperparts golden to bronze green: throat and breast glittering golden green: center of lower breast and belly white: undertail coverts white with brownish centers: tail dark bronze green to blackish-bronze.<nThe female has white subterminal bars on the throat feathers: the outermost rectrices have gray tips.<nThe immature is more gray brown.

Voice Disc 1 (2011)

Very highly pitched tsi.tsitsi...tsi.tsitsi... called about five times by birds sitting on an exposed perch.

Behavior Disc 1 (2011)

Frequents lower strata of flowering trees, forages by trap-lining: also hunts for small arthropods.

Almost all year round.

Common in open and semi-open areas, savannah, capoeira, caatinga in the interior, forest edge, parks, gardens, plantations.
