Description Disc 1 (2011)

8-9 cm. The male has a straight coral red bill with a black tip: forehead, crown, cheeks, throat bluish green: upperparts golden green, becoming red-copperish towards rump: chin feathers basally white, sides of neck and lower throat blue, belly gray, flanks golden green: uppertail coverts deep copper to purple, undertail coverts dark bronze-green to copperish: tail steel blue.<nThe female lacks the violet-blue head and throat: upperparts lighter golden green: a less contrasting rump: the center of underparts gray: undertail coverts white, the outer rectrices with a gray terminal band.<nThe immature"s head and and throat are partially blue-green: belly gray: undertail converts dark gray.
