Description Disc 1 (2011)

11-12 cm. Slightly decurved black bill: the male"s throat, center of breast and abdomen blue back, bordered on each side by shining dark blue: central tail feathers bronze green, rest purple, tipped and edged blue.<nThe female is like the male, but has whitish underparts with a black stripe down the middle of the throat, and a belly more or less mixed with shining green.

Call a chick : song about seven fine whistles.

Behavior Disc 1 (2011)

Pairs defend feeding territores, usually in flowering trees. Also hawks for insects.

Habitat and status Disc 1 (2011)

Uncommon in open glades in forested areas, forest borders, gardens and parks, open mountain and hill slopes with bushes and scattered trees.

Throughout. In Estado S<C4>o Paulo reported from <8E>Sertaocinho, S<C4>o Carlos, Avare, Ipeuna, Campinas, Broa, Itirapina, Pariquera-acu, Riacho Grande, Ubatumirim, Laranjeiras, Iepe, Capao Bonito, S<C4>o Jose do Barreiro ^119 .
