Description Disc 1 · 2011
20-21 cm. The facial disc is outlined in black with a buff rim strongly contrasting with a dark brown head; lores to the base of the bill, brown; forecrown and collar on hindneck yellowish-buff; upperside chocolate brown; primaries with white marks; wing coverts with white spots; tail blackish with two broken white bars and a white tip; small chin patch brown; the rest of underparts yellowish-buff; iris greenish-yellow; bill pale buff-yellow; tarsi feathered cream-yellow.
The immature lacks the buff spots above.
