Description Disc 1 (2011)

20-24 cm. The adult has gray brown, brown and rufous morphs with intermediates. The rufous morph is rare. The facial disc light gray or light buff with black border: light buff brown or light gray crown and upper parts heavily streaked dark: scapulars with dark edged white spots: flight feathers and tail barred light buff and brown: underparts white, thinly vermiculated with brown and buff and with black shaft streaks: tarsus featherd, toes bare: iris yellow: bill greenish gray with darker tip: feet gray brown.<nThe immature is mostly buffy, finely barred dusky, darker above.

Song variable, usually fast tututututu..tu...TU , last sylllable higher and emphasized: secondary song slower bu.bu.bu.bu.bu.bu.bububububu listen to 3 : call 10 ic s and then 3 emphasized loud ic s ^119 .

Behavior Disc 1 (2011)

Forages at lower levels, usually from a perch. Apprehends prey from tree branches or from the ground.

Moderately common in forest boders, clearings in forest, city parks, secondary thickets, plantations, gardens. From sea level to 1500 meters.

Throughout. Inland relatively common. Closer to the shore repoted from <8E>Jeriquara, Rio Pedras, Barretos, Vista Bonita, Itapetininga, Cananeia, Fazenda Intervales ^119 .
