Description Disc 1 · 2011
27-32 cm. The adult's entire head, underside of neck, breast and sides are bright purplish blue turning black on the abdomen, flanks and tibiae; under tail coverts white; under wing coverts bright purplish blue; above mainly olive green tinged bluish on the outer webs of the remiges, inner webs fuscous; rump, upper tail coverts and tail olive brown; iris brown; frontal shield pale bluish; bill red, tipped yellow; feet greenish yellow.
The immature's head, neck, breast, sides and tibiae are pale tawny brown; throat, abdomen and under tail coverts white; upperside brown, back and wing coverts olivaceous.
