Description Disc 1 (2011)

30.5-38 cm. The adult is olive brown above, the crown and hindneck tinged gray: the feathers of the mantle, inner secondaries, and rump with broad dark centers: primaries and tail fuscous: forehead, sides of head and entire underside ashy gray or bluish slate: iris and feet red: bill slightly decurved, yellowish green, the base bright red.<nThe immature"s underparts pale are brownish, darkest on the flanks: chin and throat whitish.

Walks in dense vegetation.

Rare in reedy marshes, muddy creeks and ponds with much floating vegetation, thickets close to water.
