Description Disc 1 · 2011

27.5-29 cm. The adult's top of head, sides of head, hindneck and upper mantle are bluish gray; upper back, wing coverts and inner flight feathers pale olive, the primaries and outer secondaries cinnamon rufous; lower back and rump deep brown, shading to rufous; flanks deep brown; tibiae pale gray; under tail coverts black; iris red; bill yellowish green, upper mandible basally red; feet reddish.

Songs are well represented on (¹⁹²). Song a sequence of "jup....jup....jup..." or "jik....jik....jik....jik....", duetts consists of one individual calling "jik...jik....jik...." and the other individual somewhat delayed a softer "kuk....kuk....kuk....kuk....".

Walks on the ground in mangroves, also flies up into low branches.

Data deficient. Coastal swamps and lagoons in mangroves. In northeast Brazil (Ceara, Bahia) also in caatinga (¹⁹ ).
