Description Disc 1 (2011)

30-34 cm. Adult"s upper side is grayish olive brown, the feathers of mantle, back and wing coverts with broad with broad blackish centers and narrow olive margins: a pale streak above the lores: sides of head sooty: throat white or pale buff: foreneck, breast and sides ochraceous buff to pinkish cinnamon: posterior underparts white, flanks and under tail coverts broadly barred pale brown: bill reddish with dark tip: tarsus yellowish brown, anterior side orange.

A variety of tick....tick... and tak sounds. Song a repeated tik...tik...tirrrr .

Runs around on the mud of mangroves areas at low tide.

Status not known. Brackish water swamps close to the coast and mangroves.

In Estado S<C4>o Paulo reported from <8E>Icapara, Iguape ^119 : possibly at <8E>Angra dos Reis<8E> in Estado Rio de Janeiro.

This relatively big rail is rather lightly coloured, has a long bill, and lives in mangroves and other areas close to the shore.
