Description Disc 1 · 2011
62 - 69 cm. The adult above is slaty black or deep sooty brown; wing coverts gray barred black; remiges dark gray tipped black with gray vermiculation; tail black tipped white; throat gray becoming black on the breast; the rest of underparts white, sometimes finely barred dark grayish; iris light brown; cere yellow green; bill black; feet yellow.
The immature is deep sooty brown or black with white spots on the upper head and nape like the wing coverts; throat and breast blotched and streaked dark brown on white ground or foreneck and breast cinnamon-tawny with black blotches; tail gray or brown, narrowly barred fuscous.
