Description Disc 1 · 2011
46 - 60cm. The adult's head, hindneck and entire undersides are cinnamon, the hindneck and undersides narowly barred fuscous; pileum streaked black; back and wings fuscous brown to blackish, the back tinged with bluish gray in old adults; shoulders and remiges cinnamon rufous barred fuscous; rump and tail black, the latter with a broad white median band and with a white tip; under wing coverts rufous; iris reddish yellow to brown; cere yellow; bill black; feet yellow.
The immature is deep sooty brown or blackish with a broad line above the eye and the feathers of hindneck and abdomen buff; the feathers of back and scapulars are often narrowly tipped with white or buff; shoulders with a russet tinge; barring of tail variable.
