Description Disc 1 · 2011
51 - 60cm. The adult is dull black, the bases of the neck feathers white; underwing coverts and tibiae finely barred or spotted with white; longer feathers of rump white; base of the tail white, the tail with narrow terminal band, and either with two black bars separated by a white bar, or with a single broad ( up to 10 cm) black subterminal band; iris dark brown or red; lores, cere and feet dull yellow; bill black with a gray or yellow base.
The immature is fuscous brown, heavily streaked with buff on the head, hindneck and undersides; underside often ochraceous with dark brown stripes and spots; remiges with narrow barring; tibiae light cinnamon buff narrowly barred darker; tail coverts and rectrices narrowly barred pale cinnamon buff and fuscous brown.
