Description Disc 1 (2011)

35 - 42 cm. Adult"s top of head black: head sides whitish: hindneck, back and rump bluish slate, becoming blackish on the wings and tail: the tail with several pale bands above, gray below, under side white, tibiae rufous: under wing coverts and axillaries white, cinnamon or rufous, remiges barred white or grayish: iris orange, the bare area around eye chrome yellow, lores and cere greenish yellow: feet yellow.<nThe immature above is similar to the adult with a buffy collar: underside whitish, boldly streaked dark brown: tibiae like adult, barred dark.<nA tawny breasted variety also exists with ochraceous underside and collar and rufous tibiae.

Variations of the basic calls caw caw caw caw... becoming higher or lower in pitch and faster and slower.

Hunts in subcanopy of dense forest and borders.

Throughout originally. In Estado S<C4>o Paulo reported from <8E>Icapara, Guaratuba, Japi, Rio Pedras, PE Jacupiranga, Tremembe, Guaratingueta.
