Description Disc 1 (2011)

51 - 61 cm. Adult head, neck and undersurface white, the crown sometimes streaked black: a dark patch behind eye: wings and tail dark brown, the underside of tail with five to seven dark bars: iris yellow, or orange yellow: bill black: cere bluish.<nIn the immature the crown is streaked blackish brown and the dorsal feathers are tipped conspicuously with white.

Behavior Disc 1 (2011)

Usually flys over lakes or lake shores: takes tall vantage points like large trees as a lookout and resting place. Skydives for fish.

Rare, fishing over lagunas and coastal bays.

Throughout. In Estado S<C4>o Paulo reported from <8E>Barreiro Rico, Guavireuva, Itirapua, Campos do Jordao, Arapei.
