Description Disc 1 (2011)

71 - 81 cm. Wingspan up to 198 cm. A large white vulture with black wings and tail. White tinged buff in adult on shoulders: greater wing covers and flight feathers, tail and rump black: collar around the neck gray: head and neck bare, the head patterned with yellow, orange and black, and a fleshy caruncle on the cere: iris white, bill gray, tipped orange red, feet blackish.<nThe immature has the bare skin of the head and neck blackish, plumage blackish brown: undersides often blotched with white: iris yellowish gray.

Usually seen circling high above forests and semi-open country.

Rare in forested areas.
