20.5 cm. Head, back and tail olive green. Wings green. Long white superciliary stripe. Underside with a white throat and a light buff chest and belly. Thin black malar stripe. Call "tic", song subject to geographical variations, a series of 4 to 5 loud whistles, last note sometimes emphasized and drawn out. A common cage bird. Forages in bushes not far from the ground and sometimes on the ground, in pairs or singly. Common in semiopen areas and bushy fields, overgrown clearings in or adjacent to forest, gallery woods, gardens in suburbs. Throughout, up to 1200 meters ^133 . 16159 Song.
