20.5 cm. Head, back and tail olive green. Wings green. Long white superciliary stripe. Underside with a white throat and a light buff chest and belly. Thin black malar stripe. Call "tic", song subject to geographical variations, a series of 4 to 5 loud whistles, last note sometimes emphasized and drawn out. A common cage bird. Forages in bushes not far from the ground and sometimes on the ground, in pairs or singly.
