Lores yellow, eye ring white: brownish gray on mantle and top of head: mantle with black streaks: inner flight feathers edged chestnut: bend of wing yellow: white underparts: flanks buffy grayish. Juvenile has dark streaking on breast. Call "tik", song subject to geographic variation, in Southeast Brazil " zik eeeeee trrrrrrr". Forages in high grass and on the ground, quite shy. Sometimes in groups. Not uncommon in grassy areas and cerrado and campo with high grass and a few bushes. Mostly inland. IN Estado S<C4>o Paulo found closer to the coast near Itapetininga, Ipanema, Itapeva, Itarar<CA>, Bananal, S<C4>o Jose do Barreiro ^119 , Itatiba, Ipiranga, Mogi das Cruzes, Taubate.
