Half-collared Sparrow

15 cm. Bill dark gray with a yellow mandible. Cap black. Gray crown stripe and white superciliary extending backwards. Olive greenish upperparts. Underparts white, the flanks light grayish-olive, the sides of chest black forming an incomplete pectoral band. <NFemales have buffy underparts. <NJuveniles have a dark bill, the superciliary is not prominent and the underside is olive-gray, streaked black. Call "zip", song a high pitched and repeated "zi zi-zi-u". Forages on the ground or close to the ground in dense undergrowth of forest. Not uncommon in undergrowth of humid primary and secondary forest. littoral and adjacent serras ^40 .
