Stripe-tailed Yellow-Finch

12 cm. Male olive above, the mantle streaked darker. Forecrown and underparts yellow. Breast tinged olive. Terminal half of the inner webs of the two outer tail feathers white. <NThe female has an olive yellow face. Brownish upperparts with black streaks. Underparts pale yellow, streaked dark on breast. The only Yellow-Finch with dark streaks on a yellow underside. Call "ziii zii", a sequence of 8 zi notes vocalization 2 : song a short repeated phrase given from perch or from flight,"ziuu zi-zi- u - zu-iii". Forages on the ground, often in flocks. Local and rare, apparently due to introduced grass species ^119 . Grassland, fields, agricultural regions, cerrado. Local inland.
