12.5 cm. Bill dark gray, thin and conical. Male gray. <NThe female has olive-brown upperparts. Belly yellowish-white with a gray tinge. Flanks olive brown with darker streaks. Call "zic" or "zizic" vocalization 2 . Song see picture 3 a sequence of 3 discernible high pitched 7000-10 000 Hz notes. This sequence is about 0.5 sec long. Forages not far from the ground in undergrowth of forest. Not uncommon in mountain forest, often in or close to stands of bamboo. Seems to be seasonal and visits forests of the interior in winter ^119 . Throughout at higher altitudes.
