15 cm. Buff brown and rather long tailed. Head grayish-brown becoming rusty brown. Upperside streaked blackish. Sides of head and cheeks blackish. Narrow white superciliary. Shoulders gray. Underside light buff. <NThe female has broader streaks on top. <NThe juvenile is barred on the belly. Throat white. Call "naa", short "dic" ^119 . Song a sequence of "tik tik titi...." sounds, vocalization 1 . possibly duets. Forages in high grass, reeds or in bushes, frequently sits exposed: usually in pairs. Uncommon in open grassy areas close to water: reed beds, tall grass areas, and in the North of its range in low shrubbery above the tree line. Throughout.
