14.5 cm. Crown, head sides, nape and back copper rufous. Black lores. Rump and wing covers bright ochraceous-yellow. Greater wing covers bluish-violet. Wings and tail black, the feathers edged blue. Underside greenish blue, the sides of belly and crissum rufous. <NThe female has a rufous head and green nape. Tail and wings black. Below greenish white. Call "seeee" vocalization 1 . Song a high pitched "see see see see seee" vocalization 1 or "zi zi zi zi seeee sirrrr zi zi zi seeeee zirrrrrrr" vocalization 1 . Forages in canopy and low in fruiting bushes in pairs or in mixed flocks. Rio Grande do Sul December. Relatively common in open forest, gallery forest, forest edge and lower scrubland, gardens, parks, orchards close to open country. From Estado S<C4>o Paulo southwards.
