14 cm. Iris brown. Upper head and nape light blue. Mask and ear covers black. Grayish-blue above. Rump pale blue. Below light buff. <NThe female has a gray mantle, <NThe juvenile has a light gray head and gray mantle, and less blue in the tail and wings. Song a high "si si si si si si si si" delivered in 2-3 sec. Sings from the canopy of tall trees. Forages in the canopy of trees, and also in high altitude scrub. Rio Grande do Sul, September and October. Not uncommon in high altitude forest and scrub of the serras and other higher altitude areas. In winter found inland in other forest types, such as Eucalyptus, and in the littoral in restinga at sea level. Throughout, regularly at higher altitudes in the breeding season. In Estado S<C4>o Paulo found at<8E>PE Carlos Botelho, PE Jacupiranga, Campos do Jord<C4>o ^119 , Iguape, Iporanga, Alto da Serra, Itarar<CA>, Valpariso ^40 .
