13.5 cm. Dark orange head with yellow lores, eye area and throat. Upperside olivaceous gray. Underside grayish-buff, the middle of breast and belly white. <NJuveniles are dull olive green on top and yellow below. Call "zi". Song in Peru or Bolivia a high "zeet zeet zizizizizizizizizizizdidididi" vocalization 1 . I don"t know whether the population in Southeast Brazil has the same song. Forages in pairs or groups in the medium stratum of trees. Observed feeding young at Lajes, west of Rio de Janeiro city, February 14, 1953 ^53 . Argentina December ^159 . Uncommon in tangled dry woodland borders and open dryer secondary forest borders, gallery forest and cerradao, parks and residential areas. Recorded from inland Estado S<C4>o Paulo e. g. Fazenda Paraiso , and from <8E>Pariquera Acu, Anchieta, Fazenda Intervales, Bananal, S<C4>o Jose do Barreiro ^119 , Ciudade Universitaria in<8E>S<C4>o Paulo<8E>City Remold,unpubl. .
