14 cm. Male is mostly gray with chestnut hood. Lores, chin and front black. Center of belly white. <NThe female is olive-green above with a cinnamon head. Underneath yellowish buff. Center of belly white. <NJuvenile male already singing is similar to the female, but has gray olive flanks and is more brownish-olive above. Belly white. Call a high "zip". Song a high pitched "si si si sui sui", sometimes 6 or only 4 notes, often repeated Vocalization 1 and sonogram in picture 4 . Forages in dense undergrowth quietly and unobtrusively and is therefore difficult to see, if it does not sing. Rare in undergrowth of dense forest and forest borders. Throughout, recorded in Estado S<C4>o Paulo from<8E>Itapeva<8E>and<8E>Serra Bocaina ^119 , Serra Mantiqueira, Serra dos Org<C4>os<8E>near<8E>Teresopolis<8E>: old recordings from Estado S<C4>o Paulo are from<8E>Piquete, Itarar<CA><8E>and near<8E>Ourinhos<8E> ^40 .
