Chestnut-headed Tanager

14 cm. Male is mostly gray with chestnut hood. Lores, chin and front black. Center of belly white. <NThe female is olive-green above with a cinnamon head. Underneath yellowish buff. Center of belly white. <NJuvenile male already singing is similar to the female, but has gray olive flanks and is more brownish-olive above. Belly white. Call a high "zip". Song a high pitched "si si si sui sui", sometimes 6 or only 4 notes, often repeated Vocalization 1 and sonogram in picture 4 . Forages in dense undergrowth quietly and unobtrusively and is therefore difficult to see, if it does not sing. Rare in undergrowth of dense forest and forest borders.
