11.0 cm. Male is blue above, the wings more grayish, with a white speculum. Light bluish-gray below approaching white on lower belly: crissum chestnut. <NFemale has a bluish-gray crown and nape. Upperparts olive green. Underparts gray. Crissum buffish. Call "sis", song a series of 5 -6 high pitched "siSI....siSI.....siSI....siSI" notes. Active and warbler-like. Found in pairs or in mixed tanager flocks. Forages at any level in trees. Regularly observed in open country and at borders of open forest, parkland, gallery forest, dry inland forest. Throughout.
