10.5 cm. Above olive gray. White superciliary. Rump yellowish. A white field in the wing. Gray throat. Chest and belly yellow. Short black decurved bill. <NJuveniles have less yellow and are more gray on the underside. Call a high pitched "zi". Song a sequence of 6-10 high pitched notes listen to vocalization 1 and 2 . In pairs predominantly. Forages mainly in the canopy of flowering and fruit trees. but also much lower. Common at borders and breaks in primary and secondary rain forest, restinga forest, swamp forest. Mostly in the more heavily forested coastal belt from<8E>Rio de Janeiro<8E>to southern Estado S<C4>o Paulo at<8E>PE Jacupiranga, Cananeia. Less frequently encountered in dry inland forests.
