11.5 cm. Bill thick. Male shining greenish blue above, including the sides of head and chin, with a small yellow spot on the forehead. Underside lemon yellow. <NThe female is olive above, gray below. Forages in canopy of trees in pairs and small groups, joins mixed forest flocks. Parana October. Rare in heavily forested areas, in primary and old secondary growth, also forest edge, parks.
