11.5 cm. Bill thick. Male shining greenish blue above, including the sides of head and chin, with a small yellow spot on the forehead. Underside lemon yellow. <NThe female is olive above, gray below. Chin, flanks and crissum olive-yellow. Call a repeated "chechecheche Vocalization 1 . Song a short repeated warble vocalization 2 . Forages in canopy of trees in pairs and small groups, joins mixed forest flocks. Parana October. Rare in heavily forested areas, in primary and old secondary growth, also forest edge, parks. Coastal areas from<8E>Rio de Janeiro, Petropolis, Nova Friburgo ^40 southwards to <8E>PE Jacupiranga, Fazenda Intervales ^119 . Old records from<8E>Iguape, Ipiranga, Lima, Mogi das Cruzes ^40 .
