Description
34.5 cm. Plushlike feathers on forecrown. The rest of head, neck sides, throat and chest, black. A light blue spot above the eye. Moustache blue. Hindneck white turning into grayish brown on back. Tail blackish brown with white tips. Underparts white.

Voice
A single syllable blue-jay-like 'jeeer', a repeated 'jep-jep' (vocalization # 1) and a high pitched 'tik-tik' (vocalization # 2).
Behavior
Forages in small groups in the crowns of forest trees.
Habitat and status
Dry forests, scrub and gallery forest.
Distribution
Extralimital. Reports from Estado São Paulo are erroneous (133). Could possibly show up as a straggler in northern Estado Rio de Janeiro.
